Ash Patel BDS (Birm), MFDS RCPS, MPhil Ortho (Birm), MOrth (Intercollegiate) Registered Specialist Orthodontist

Find something you love to do and you'll never have to work a day in your life.” – Harvey MacKay

Even as a dental student, I knew I wanted to pursue a career as a Specialist Orthodontist. I get to befriend and help so many different patients from different walks of life. I enjoy the intricate work associated with brace treatment and love the look of joy on my patient's faces with their confident new smile at the end of treatment. It's like they are smiling for the first time! With the different types of braces I offer, I relish challenges and find orthodontics exciting and rewarding in lots of ways.

I studied dentistry at The University of Birmingham, UK and graduated BDS in 1998, followed by jobs in General Practice and Hospital. I passed the Entrance examination into Specialist training, MDFS RCPS in 2001, followed by jobs at Birmingham Dental Hospital and Children's Hospital. I subsequently got in to the very competitive three-year full-time Orthodontic Specialist training program in 2002.

During my three years, I treated hundreds of patients, both adults and children and was awarded an MPhil Ortho in 2005 and the MOrth from the Royal College of Surgeons, England and Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians, Glasgow. I then worked as a Locum Consultant in Hospital as well as maintaining Private Practice, until my wife and I saw the (sun)light and moved to Perth in 2009.

I have been published and was a prize winner at the World Orthodontic Conference in 2005. I now create beautiful smiles for patients of all ages.

I am also proud to be the one of the very few in Australia to offer the Incognito® lingual braces, the most popular "invisible" brace in Europe. I also offer Damon braces and Invisalign® and pride myself on non-extraction treatments, where possible.

Having moved to Perth, my wife and I now live in Fremantle and love the beach and outdoor lifestyle here. We have two daughters, Annika and Ishika, who thankfully have my wife’s looks! When not working, I enjoy running, cycling and multisports. We recently went camping, and are not against trying it again.

I look forward to meeting you soon!
