Dr Ash

Dr Ash

Specialist Orthodontist

Dr Ash Patel has been a Specialist Orthodontist since 2005. After achieving his dental degree, Dr Ash followed his passion to specialise in orthodontics. He attended The University of Birmingham (UK) where he undertook three years of full time study to gain his Master's Degree as an Orthodontic Specialist. Dr Ash became a member with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of England and Glasgow, UK (MOrth) and was awarded an orthodontic research degree (MPhil Orth) from The University of Birmingham (UK).

In 2009 he emigrated to Perth, Western Australia with his wife.

Dr Ash is an orthodontic specialist whose focus lies solely on providing the best possible orthodontic care to his patients. He uses the latest evidence-based treatments to provide exemplary care and service to his patients of all ages.

“My passion for orthodontics started early in my training. The ability to move patients from a point where they are hesitant to smile, smile with their mouths closed or a hand over their mouths to a place where they beam confidently for all the world to see is a wonderful feeling. Orthodontics combines art, science and mechanics to give real tangible benefits to the lives of patients.”

As a specialist orthodontist, Dr Ash can offer a wide variety of treatment options including plates, braces and Invisalign®. “Choosing the right treatment for you will depend on many factors. Not every solution is suitable for every patient. We help our patients to understand the options that are available to them and ensure they make the best choice for their particular needs.”

As Principal of Peel Orthodontics, Dr Ash is heavily involved in the orthodontic community and regularly gives lectures to general dentists on orthodontic matters. He is also involved in the training of visiting Dental Therapy students and was vice president for the Australian Society of Orthodontists (WA).

Dr Ash is also a participating orthodontist for Give A Smile™. Each Give a Smile™ orthodontist welcomes at least one patient per year into his/her practice. All work undertaken for every Give a Smile™ patient is done pro-bono and with the highest level of care and professionalism.

When the working day is done, Dr Ash loves spending time with his family and friends and making the most of the outdoor lifestyle Perth has to offer.

Dr Hui Lau

Dr Hui Lau

Specialist Orthodontist

Dr Hui is a registered Specialist Orthodontist. She attended the University of Melbourne with a scholarship to study Bachelor of Dental Science, graduating with Honours in 2007. After graduation, she spent four years working at private practices and government dental health services in Melbourne, providing quality care to patients from all walks of life.

Dr Hui then moved to Perth to commence three years of full-time specialty training and obtained her Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry, Orthodontics, from the University of Western Australia.

“I was inspired to be an orthodontist by my orthodontist. I had braces as a young adult and I felt ashamed that I had my orthodontic treatment at a later age. However, my orthodontist was amazing in transforming my teeth and my smile. Since then, I knew I wanted to be in this profession, to make positive changes in people’s lives and smile.”

Dr Hui specialises in child and adult orthodontics including fixed appliances, aligners, functional appliances, skeletal anchorage assisted orthodontics and surgical orthodontic cases. She is dedicated to delivering excellent care to patients of all ages and consistently strives to achieve the best treatment outcomes for all of her orthodontic patients.

“Since every patient is different, and everyone has specific orthodontic needs, my treatment plans are customised for each patient. Together with the team at Peel Ortho, I will ensure that you understand all your options available and personalise a plan that is best suited for you.”

Dr Hui is registered as an Orthodontic Specialist with the Dental Board of Australia and is certified by the Australasian Orthodontic Board. She is also an active member of local and international societies, including the Australian Dental Association, Australian Society of Orthodontists, American Association of Orthodontists and World Federation of Orthodontists. Dr Hui is currently the Recent Graduate Representative for the Australian Society of Orthodontists, Western Australia branch, and the treasurer for the Dental Specialist Society of Western Australia.

“Think of orthodontic treatment as a positive long-term investment. It has the ability to align your teeth, improve your bite and create a beautiful smile that is harmoniously balanced with your face. Not only will you achieve a confident smile, you’ll also improve the health of your teeth and general well being.”

When she’s not working, Dr Hui and her husband enjoy socialising with friends, gardening and travelling.
