Invisalign® treatment at Peel Orthodontics

At Peel Orthodontics, we offer Invisalign® treatment – a discreet way of correcting your smile. It can treat major and minor orthodontic problems and is a popular option among adults and teenagers alike.

What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® is a method of orthodontic treatment that uses clear, plastic, removable aligners to move your teeth into position. There is no need for brackets and archwires as there is with traditional metal braces; instead, these custom-made aligners are designed to fit over your teeth like a mini mouthguard and gently encourage your teeth to straighten into the perfect smile.

How does Invisalign® work?

Invisalign® works using some of the most advanced technology available in the orthodontic industry. We start by taking a 3D image of your teeth using an iTero IntraOral Digital scanner. This small, wand-like device enables us to get an accurate image of the position of your teeth and jaw. The technology then uses those images to plan your treatment, tracking the exact movement of your teeth that is required.

Your custom-made aligners are manufactured to your teeth’s specifications. Every two weeks you will need to change your aligners to the next set in the series. Over the treatment period, each set of aligners builds on the previous one to gradually move your teeth into the desired position.

What results can I expect with Invisalign®?

Many products we buy will function the same, no matter who uses them. The latest iPhone, a new oven or even a computer will all function in the same way for everyone. But there are some things in life where the outcome is determined by skill, not by the product. Think about a tennis racquet for a moment. Having the best tennis racquet won’t automatically qualify you for the Australian Open! The way the racquet hits the ball depends on who’s holding it. The same is true for Invisalign®. The training, experience and large amount of care that Dr Ash puts into your Invisalign® treatment plan and smile design determines your orthodontic results. Invisalign® is not a one size fits all product. It is a simply a newer straightening device that a skilled Orthodontist uses to build your new smile.

Types of Invisalign®

At Peel Orthodontics, we have embraced the Invisalign® method and offer four different versions of this appliance:

  • Invisalign® Comprehensive: This is the most effective option if you need major orthodontic work. The aligners will deliver the results you want to see in around 12 to 18 months.
  • Invisalign® Lite: Minor correction of teeth can be achieved with Invisalign® Lite. You could have a straighter smile in as little as six months.
  • Invisalign® Express: Minor problems affecting the front six teeth can be corrected with Invisalign® Express. You can expect to see results in just three months.
  • Invisalign® First: Orthodontic problems in young children can be corrected or reduced with Invisalign® First aligners.

Invisalign® aligners are suitable for teens as well. For our teen patients we can fit a blue dot wear indicator on each set of aligners as a reminder to wear the aligners for the recommended 22 hours per day.

Benefits of Invisalign®

Invisalign® is a popular option for many reasons.

  • You can keep on top of your oral hygiene by removing the aligners when eating, brushing and flossing.
  • The clear plastic material Invisalign® aligners are made from means most people don’t even notice you’re wearing them.
  • It’s still possible to carry on playing sport and musical instruments while having Invisalign® treatment – you don't have to remove the aligners for sport, unless you want to wear a mouth guard.
  • In many cases, Invisalign® treatment can be much faster than traditional braces.
